Crystal River Contractor Builds App to Link Homeowners With Local Pros While Avoiding Costly Lead Fees

Ryan Hoffland, a Crystal River business owner, created Find-A-Pro after spending heavily on job leads from major online platforms, and the app now lists 54 small local businesses.

A Crystal River business owner has built a new app aimed at connecting homeowners with nearby contractors while sparing small companies the steep lead fees charged by large technology platforms.

Ryan Hoffland, who owns RNC Versatile Services, developed the app, called Find-A-Pro, after finding that his own lead costs were adding up with little to show for them. He said he was spending hundreds of dollars every week on job leads through major online platforms and often did not win the work.

Hoffland began developing the app in March 2026 and has released it on Google Play. As of the article's date, Find-A-Pro lists 54 small, local businesses, and no major chains are included.

The listings cover a wide range of trades: roofing companies, HVAC providers, electricians, handymen, house cleaners, mobile detailers, full contractors, trailer repair and sales businesses. Coverage is concentrated in Citrus, Marion and Hernando counties, though some businesses serve areas as far away as Tampa, Ocala and The Villages.

Hoffland says the pricing model on the big platforms is a core problem. A single job lead can cost a business anywhere from $20 to more than $100, and when a lead goes to several contractors, each one is billed at the same time.

"They charge based on the job sent. So if it's sent to 3 people, all 3 businesses are charged a fee as soon as it's sent to them," Hoffland explained.

Find-A-Pro is designed to cut those costs, letting businesses reinvest the savings and potentially charge consumers less. Hoffland argued the benefits extend to the wider community. "This helps the community because it brings the cost down. Now they can take and reinvest that money into their own business. They can spend it back in their community and build their business," he said. He added that when a business is not spending $50 to chase a job, "their price isn't going to be as high" for the customer.

Homeowners can search the app by service type, city or zip code. Each business profile shows verified identity, a phone number, licensing status, insurance information and the services offered. Profiles also include photo galleries, links to Google reviews and links to the company's website.
